Hello, I signed a lease for this upcoming school year that begins August 26th and I want to get out of it because I'm pregnant and can't afford to stay there. I was not aware that I was pregnant when I signed the lease. Living in the apartment will be two college students who don't want to live with me anyways due to the fact that I would have a baby living there. The leasing office said I can't get out of it unless I find someone to take my spot, which I have tried to do and have not been successful. Is there any way I can get out of this lease?

Leases, like any contract, are binding once executed. Early termination is usually something addressed specifically in the lease (so you may want to double check the documents), or if the lease is silent then you are bound for the term of the lease. Unfortunately life changes, like becoming pregnant, are typically not something that would excuse a person from binding contractual commitments. While you could spend time arguing technicalities or attempting to find other resolutions, in my opinion your effort is better spent trying to find a replacement roommate.
